Head of Youth Love Egypt Foundation meets His Holiness Pope Tawadros II before travelling to the Climate Summit and launching the "Green Churches" initiative.
 

Ahmed Fathi, President of Youth Love Egypt Foundation and His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Patriarch of His holiness Mark,met at the Cathedral in Abbasiya to discuss the Foundation's plan to participate in the upcoming COPin Glasgow, United Kingdom. This is one of the actions of the Foundation.

 

The meeting was addressed by the presentation of the President of Youth Love Egypt Foundation to the Pope, Tawadros; The Green Churches Project, which deals with the lighting of church and administrative buildings using solar energy to adapt to climate change, also launched a training program for preachers on climate issues, to be used to raise awareness of the importance of rational water use, energy and increasing green landscapes, because clergy have a great task in raising awareness.

 

The meeting also addressed the Foundation's efforts in development and public work over the past few years, as well as the review of the "Know Your Reserve" project, which was well received by the Pope. The project is concerned with the documentation through photographs and video of nature reserves, which was launched by the Foundation in 2014 and is still in existence until all of Egypt's nature reserves are documented. The Foundation's experience with the "Red Sea is plastic-free”project, which was released in 2016. Several islands were declared completely plastic-free and ended with the declaration by the Governor of the Red Sea of the decision to ban the use of single plastics in the government , as well as with “ clean shores”Initiative to Reduce Plastic Use in Egypt, launched in 2019. The initiative included several initiatives for the cleanliness of the Nile and the Mediterranean Sea in cooperation with partners, as well as coordination with the House of Representatives and the Energy and Environment Committee to reach a full paragraph in the Plastic Waste Act on Single Plastics. This is the result of an effort by the Egyptian private sector, not just the Foundation.
 

The meeting ended with the President of the Foundation thanking His Holiness the Pope for his reception and giving the Foundation the opportunity to talk to the world's largest Christian religious leadership about climate issues.
