Launching the Green Church initiative to confront climate change
On Anba Ruwais Theater in St. Mark's Cathedral in Abbasiya witnessed, this Thursday afternoon, launching of the Green Church initiative to confront climate change, in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Ahmed Fathi Ahmed Mohamed, President of the "Youth Love Egypt" Foundation, the National Coordinator of the African Climate Alliance, and 300 priests from Upper Egypt.
Fathi gave a lecture on climate change and the need to rationalize energy and water consumption and encourage agriculture and sustainable development. His Holiness also announced a competition to plant trees in churches and with not less than one hundred trees and documenting these activities in the name of the church and in which they are held as a practical expression of the role of the Coptic Orthodox Church in preserving on the environment.
