YLE organized several clean up campaigns in celebration of the World clean up Day

YLE organized several clean up campaigns in celebration of the World clean up Day, in cooperation with several hotels in sharm Elsheikh and Red sea . World Cleanup Day is an annual global event aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris. It is coordinated by the global organization Let's Do It! World, the headquarters is located in Tallinn, Estonia.

The idea for World Cleanup Day began in Estonia in 2008. That year, a group of Estonians decided to clean up their country in a single day. They called it "Teeme ära!", which means "Let's do it!" in Estonian. Over 50,000 people came out to clean up the country, and they collected over 10,000 tons of trash in just five hours.

The success of Teeme ära! inspired other countries to organize their own cleanups. In 2011, the first international cleanup day was held, and over 35 countries participated. The event was a success, and it has continued to grow every year since then.

In 2018, World Cleanup Day became a truly global event, with over 150 million people participating in cleanups in 192 countries. The goal for 2023 is to have 200 million people participating in cleanups in 200 countries. And that’s what YLE has been working towards by participating in this event many times by organizing wide cleanup campaigns in different cities. This year, YLE is aiming to widen its campaigns and cleanup as many places as possible.

Guess what we’re planning to do this year 🤔 🤔
