Our YLE team—both on the ground in Belém and online—had a highly active and impactful first week at COP30. Here are the key highlights:
We followed 15 negotiation sessions across
GGA, NAPs, and ACE, closely tracking progress and preparing insights for our community.
We coordinated 3 meetings for Arab youth, creating space for dialogue, connection, and shared priorities inside COP30.
We conducted 15 interviews with climate leaders from diverse ages and backgrounds to elevate global voices on climate action.
We met with Dr. Heike Henn, Head of the new Directorate-General for International Climate Policy at BMUKN, where we discussed key developments in the negotiations and the dynamics shaping climate ambition at COP30.
We joined the event “Launching the Global Youth Recommendations on NDCs & NAPs”, supporting youth-driven climate policy advocacy.
We spoke in Arabic at an event in the Children & Youth Pavilion, amplifying the perspectives and priorities of Arab youth at COP30.
We joined the People’s Summit, where our team contributed to a session on Agroecology as historical reparation for the Global South, highlighting community-centered approaches to climate justice.
