World Biodiversity Day is here Celebrated on May 22nd under the theme "Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development," it's a reminder that preserving nature is essential for our lives and the future of our planet.
Biodiversity today faces growing threats due to climate change — rising temperatures, shifting weather patterns, and habitat loss are putting ecosystems under pressure, affecting species distribution, agriculture, food security, and human health.
At Youth Who Love Egypt Foundation, we’re committed to protecting biodiversity through several initiatives:
- Plastic Islands Project: In partnership with the Canadian Fund (CLFI), this project aims to reduce plastic pollution in marine environments to protect marine life.
- Clean Shores Campaign: Cleaning beaches and the banks of the Nile in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources to raise awareness about aquatic biodiversity.
- Environmental Pioneers Program: A training initiative for youth in environmental and biodiversity topics, in collaboration with the French Cultural Center, Twitter, and the United Nations.
- Awareness Workshops: Educating young people on the importance of biodiversity, including workshops with active participation from 25 young volunteers.
- Environmental Camps: Organizing youth camps in natural reserves like Nabq and Wadi Degla to raise awareness and encourage community engagement in biodiversity preservation.
We remain dedicated to empowering youth and protecting the natural world.
