YLE is Now an official Observer at the UNCCD

We’re proud to share that YLE Foundation has been officially accredited as an observer to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) — a major step forward in our journey toward climate justice and land sustainability.

This prestigious accreditation not only acknowledges our commitment to environmental action but also empowers us to actively engage in shaping global policies that affect land, communities, and climate — especially in Africa and the Middle East.

What is the UNCCD?

The UNCCD is the only legally binding international agreement that focuses on land degradation, desertification, and drought. It plays a key role in promoting sustainable land use, restoration of degraded lands, and resilience-building in the face of climate challenges.

What this means for YLE Foundation

We can officially attend and contribute to all UNCCD COPs and subsidiary body sessions.
We have a platform to represent youth voices from Egypt and across Africa in international environmental dialogues.
We’ll be able to share grassroots experiences and push for inclusive, youth-led climate solutions.
We strengthen our position as a bridge between local action and global policy.

This achievement reflects the passion and persistence of our team and supporters who work every day for a more sustainable, just, and resilient future.

Our commitment remains strong: to restore lands, uplift communities, and make youth central to the climate conversation.
