“Youth Loves Egypt” organizes the Fifth workshop for ARCH project emntitled “Building Youth Capacities in the Field of Writing Climate Policy Papers”

The Youth Love Egypt Foundation organized a training workshop entitled “Building Youth Capacities in the Field of Writing Climate Policy Papers,” which extended over three days from March 7 to March 9 in Fayoum Governorate.

This workshop came within the framework of the activities of the project to build the capacity of civil society institutions in the field of climate change (ARCH), which is implemented by the Youth Who Loves Egypt Foundation in partnership with the German CRISP Foundation and the Pan-African Alliance for Climate Justice (PACJA) and funding from the German Ministry of the Environment (IKI) from 2023-2025.

The goal of the workshop is to engage young people in understanding the basics of writing policy papers, with a focus on priority international and regional environmental issues in the field of climate change.

15 trainees participated in the workshop and were trained to write policy papers in the field of climate change and focus on issues of regional and international dimensions.

For his part, Ahmed Fathi, head of the Youth Who Loves Egypt Foundation, confirmed that it is the fifth workshop that was organized in this framework, explaining that four workshops had been implemented previously since the beginning of 2023, where 30 young men and women were selected to participate in the first workshop and were introduced to everything related to Climate change is an important international issue.

Fathi stated that through these workshops, participants are introduced to the basic concepts of climate change policies, in addition to understanding the administrative, legislative and regulatory framework for policy-making processes, explaining that these workshops are very fruitful as the young people participating in these workshops submitted proposals for projects and the best 10 projects were selected. They were granted seedfunding in the amount of 500 euros for each project, and these projects are currently being implemented, in addition to choosing the best project idea and the best policy paper, which participated in COP 28, which was held in Dubai in 2023, where the project’s success story was presented in a session held in the pavilion.
